Teacher: Mr Adams
Adopted Governor for this class: Shirley Sawyer
The Adopted Governor stays with the class as they progress through the school.
A class newsletter outlining work covered and homework tasks is sent out each week. Homework will comprise one written task OR one practical task per week. It should take approximately half an hour. Homework will be sent home on a Thursday, and should be handed in on Monday.
Spellings are given to pupils each Tuesday, for a test the following Monday.
There may also be a ’learn by heart task’ mental maths task, and occasional topic work.
Reading continues to be vitally important this year, so in addition to written homework your support with listening to your child read at home as regularly as possible, ideally on a daily basis, is very much appreciated. Discussing and asking questions about the books you share will enhance their comprehension and inference skills and we will also be focussing on these during our individual and guided reading sessions in school. Please use the Reading Prompts sent home each term to develop your child’s analytical skills. Please remember children should record any reading they do at home in their Reading Record Books.
PE lessons will be held with Mr Ford on Wednesday mornings. Please ensure they have a full PE kit in school.
Following the introduction of the new National Curriculum in 2014, this year is the first year the new assessments for KS1 and KS2 will be introduced. A document explaining about the interim assessment can be found below, and the literacy and numeracy support for parent leaflets will guide you as to the expected learning for this age group.
